People often wonder what I do for work, and quite often when I say I’m a virtual assistant and administrator, the questions begin to flow. What is that? What do you do? To appease inquisitive minds about my profession and work, I decided to answer the 5 Ws (the who, what, where, when and why) of I Am Awet – Virtual Assistant & Administrator.
Who is I Am Awet? Well, I am Awet. I am a smart-ambitious entrepreneur from Washington, DC. I am a Howard University (Go Bisons!) and University of Maryland University College alum with 15 years in executive-level administration. I branded my services as I Am Awet because it is the best representation of who I am and what I represent.
Why did I launch I Am Awet? I’ve always held this desire to create something that was my own. I’ve always wanted to know what it felt like to be my own boss. Eventually, I decided to satisfy my own entrepreneurial ambitions by creating I Am Awet – Virtual Assistant and Administrator, offering business support services to other entrepreneurs, small businesses and nonprofits.
What do you do as a virtual assistant? Let me first explain that virtual assistants provide in-demand services remotely--a virtual assistant can do essentially any work that doesn’t require them to be physically present to complete a job. They can have a range of skills from photo editing to copywriting to bookkeeping.
So, the question should be what don’t I do as a VA? For 15 years I have assisted executives and managers across different industries, so I have many professional attributes that I have honed over the years. My goal is to improve the lives of my clients by handling certain responsibilities that are better to delegate. For instance, if a client is often pressed for time, I can improve their schedule. If a client needs to plan a seminar, I will coordinate the logistics. I have updated websites, managed social media accounts, performed data entry, designed graphics, planned travel, conducted research and so much more.

When are you available? One of the benefits of being an entrepreneur is being able to make my own schedule. I am available Monday to Friday to speak with clients. Reservations can even be made online for us to chat. I do what I can to make my clients happy.
Being a virtual assistant and administrator allows me to leverage my strengths to help others. Every client is unique and every project different, so I wholly enjoy meeting the challenges that each day brings.
